2010 - It's Been a Very Good Year...
12/31/2010
What can I say about this past year that I have not already spoken of throughout it? Well, let me count the ways?
For one, my decision to retire as of February 1, 2011 was reconsidered, and I decided I am not ready to hang it up; after all, I am just a sixty-six year old kid and having way too much fun. In March of 2010 I drew my first Social Security check. Inasmuch as I am old enough to fart dust and “older than white dog shit” (conveniently stolen from an old friend), I can take the SS checks and still draw my full salary as I continue to seemingly work hard not to work hard. It seems a little unfair even to me this is allowable, but it is nonetheless legal for me to do it, so I am. God bless all of you for contributing to my well being.
This year The Nancy and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary with a trip to Marco Island, Florida. We have decided we are as happy as we can be without being filthy rich, though The Nancy says we live in abundance, and I believe we do, as well. Perhaps it is the attitude we have about life (I think it is), but we always have what we need at the time we need it. We live in the world of The Best Day Ever.
Several people who are inexorably connected to us made quantum leaps in 2010, my daughter Michelle most notably. She began life anew in 2010. Daughter Jackie also moved forward as she made some huge life decisions this past year. Meredith and family are doing well, though I think the economy has had affect on her husband’s business circumstances this year. The Nancy’s folks are doing very well, as are her brothers and sister and their families. I have been all over one of her brothers to get his post-50 colonoscopy, but he remains a big weenie and I will be all over him until he has it done. I enjoy nagging people.
All in all, it has been a fantastic year, well, that is, other than the ten pounds I have gained. As noted earlier, I live in abundance. I have never been happier than I am this day. Each day presents new opportunities, new surprises and happiness beyond my wildest dreams. I make good money: I have a great job and bosses who have told me to continue to work as long as I want. My wife adores me as I do her, so she says. My friends are many, and they are all special in their own right. What more could I ask of this life? It is all good.
This has been a year of “The Best Day Ever” one after the other, and just to think, I get to start another one tomorrow as I welcome in 2011.
And that is all I have to say about that…
