The Birthday…

Today I get to celebrate the 31st anniversary of my 39th birthday; an occasion I have awaited my whole life.

My brother-in-law often quotes these fitting Jimmy Buffet lyrics on birthdays, “Every day’s a revolution - Pull it together and it comes undone - Just one more candle and a trip around the sun.”  My 70th orbit is now completed, on to 71. I am happy to have made it this far down the road of life.  I have no regrets, well, “too few to mention,” so the song goes.  Actually, my life has been good, and as I have often said, I would gladly live it all over exactly as it has unfolded if given the opportunity, no changes – I will take the good, the bad and the ugly.

Never dwelling on the past, I have always lived in the present, though I didn’t give it much thought until about 10 years ago.  I don’t live in the world of “what if” or “when my ship comes in.”  The past is done, the future is not yet here, there is only today…and this one just happens to be “The Best Day Ever in my whole life,” as expressed by a young lady on a special birthday and since adopted by The Nancy and me.

I don’t lie (a promise I made to myself many years ago); I won’t cheat you; I don’t hold grudges, I don’t dwell on stuff and if I love you, I will tell you.

Today is my 70th birthday, and I am proud to get to celebrate it.

And that is all I have to say about that…
